Digital catalogues – best practice

Making the shift from printed to digital catalogues

With tablet ownership soaring, online experiences getting richer, and social media infiltrating every area of our lives, retailers have a fantastic opportunity in 2012 to create digital catalogues which give their customers a future facing shopping experience which will drive sales and build your reputation within their social network.

A pdf of your printed catalogue doesn’t cut the mustard any more, and with Google Catalogues launching in the UK in March, you really need to get thinking about how digital catalogues work for your brand.

What we will do?

  • Explain how Google Catalogues will work
  • Explain the different types of content that can be accommodated in digital catalogues
  • Show how customers interact with digital catalogues
  • Analyse which of your existing assets (e.g. images, video etc…) will be suitable for your digital catalogue
  • Identify what new content you will need to create and how you can do it
  • Identify the correct balance of ‘selling’ content vs ‘non-selling’ content (i.e. general information about your brand and expert advice that you can give to your customers over and above just selling products to them)
  • Show you where to build in calls to action and functionality that will encourage your customers to share what they are browsing and buying from you via social media
  • Work out how much you should spend on producing this content
  • Evaluate the best ways you can produce this content
  • Recommend how you should split your budget between the different types of content
  • (Optional) Develop a pre-production flat plan for your proposed digital catalogue

The cost

We will tailor the cost to the size of the catalogue, but as a guide, for a 100 page catalogue, the cost without the flat plan is £3,000 (ex VAT), and with a flat plan is £5,000 (ex VAT)

(cost based on day rates of £500 per day)
